The challenge of paying for college is as overwhelming as getting accepted to college. The Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce Foundation was established to provide a platform for GTRCC members to donate a scholarship in honor/memory of someone, or just to help a deserving student in our community follow their dreams to a secondary education, while reducing some of the economic burden. The GTRCC members establish the amount and criteria of their scholarship, while facilitating the non-profit aspect through the foundation as well as the application and awarding process. The scholarship recipients are invited to attend our annual Scholarship Cocktail Reception in June.
On average, the GTRCC Foundation awards over $15,000 at this event, and now an additional $3,500 is awarded to the winners of Tribal Council, the Toms River Schools Business Academy collaboration with GTRCC.

Andrew Borden Scholarship
$2,500
The Andrew Borden Memorial Scholarship is designed to recognize and fund a portion of college or university education for a promising female student attending Toms River High School South who has demonstrated academic excellence and community responsibility.”
ELIGIBILITY I APPLICANT MUST:
- Be a Toms River High School South Senior identifying as female
- Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Rank in the top third of their Senior Year Class
- Demonstrate meaningful, school, work or community involvement
- Have plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at a two- or four-year college or university in the fall following their graduation
- Complete the application process including:
- At least one teacher/coach or employer recommendation
- Provide transcript (unofficial transcript accepted)
- Write an essay (250 word minimum): “How do you believe The Andrew Borden Memorial Scholarship will help you achieve your college goals?”
